Sustainable building

To us, sustainability is not just an important aspect within the company. We also strive to ensure that our systems can be built sustainably. With our systems, we contribute to better insulation, making homes more energy efficient. Because several of our products are C2C certified, this helps us to get buildings BREEAM certified. We are also in the process of providing our products with SPDs. In this way, we ensure transparency about our profiles.

Sustainable homes

We attach importance not only to the sustainability of our own company, but also to that of the homes in which our aluminium profiles are installed. When you choose aluminium windows, you are opting for numerous advantages, including excellent insulation values. This makes it suitable for low-energy houses and even passive houses. Our products are designed with a strong focus on optimal thermal insulation, leading to a significant reduction in energy consumption.

In addition, our aluminium profiles are known for their long life cycle. They are durable and do not need regular replacement due to wear and tear. Moreover, our profiles are 100% recyclable. Should replacement ever become necessary, the old profiles can be completely transformed into new products, contributing to a circular economy.

BREEAM

The Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) is an internationally recognised certification system that assesses the sustainability of buildings.

The aim of BREEAM is to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly building practices. The system helps minimise the carbon footprint and maximises the benefits for the environment and building users. BREEAM assesses a building on various aspects of sustainability through credits and weights:

·         Management

·         Health and welfare

·         Energy

·         Transport

·         Water

·         Materials

·         Waste

·         Land use and ecology

·         Pollution

·         Innovation

EPD

An Environmental Product Declaration is a standardised document that presents the environmental performance of a product or material in a transparent and objective manner throughout its life cycle. It is, therefore, based on a life cycle analysis.

The purpose of an EPD is to provide transparent and comparable information on a product's environmental performance. This helps companies, designers and consumers gain an understanding of the ecological impact of the product such as energy consumption, carbon emissions and use of raw materials. It is mainly used in the construction industry to assess the environmental impact of building materials. It therefore plays an important role in certification systems such as BREEAM and LEED.

It is important to remember that an EPD is not a seal of approval or a sustainability certificate, but rather a way of providing objective, quantitative environmental data. Each country has its own requirements in terms of EPDs, so several can be made up for each system, depending on the country in which you want to issue it.

Sustainable projects

Several projects realised with Aliplast profiles are also sustainable projects. We aim to contribute as much as possible to sustainable buildings thanks to our aluminium profiles.

A good example is Barry Callebaut's chocolate warehouse, the largest and simultaneously most sustainable warehouse in the world. A BREEAM-certified building – thanks to the Star75 windows and MC Wall curtain wall.

For example, we have several sustainability-based projects:
